Our flight to Nairobi leaves Heathrow at 10:10 so having been spooked by M25 closures last year we are now in the "go the night before, just in case" mode (probably an age thing). Accordingly we left Walderslade about 15:45 thinking we'd just hit the rush hour, but in fact we had a very good run and only slowed to 40 mph once.
The Premier Inn, Bath Road is huge, approx 600 rooms, and quite sophisticated compared to the smaller ones we've stayed in. There is a restaurant, bar and coffee shop and all the staff we had dealings with were delightful. Gosha who checked us in for some reason decided to give us free parking for the night so our bottle of wine with dinner was effectively £5 - bargain. Dinner was OK, not fantastic. The room was the usual Premium Inn style and superbly soundproofed so there was no noise whatsoever from aircraft, adjoining rooms or 'oiks' slamming doors. Sadly, despite that, neither of slept particular well.
The Aspire Lounge at T3 is very nice; a delicious unlimited buffet of cooked breakfast plus fruit, croissants etc (no jam!) but you do have to pay extra for Prosecco and there are no free newspapers. Overall though it's one of the better lounges we've used.
Flight time to Nairobi is 8:30 hours, so with the +3 hours time difference we get there about 21:30 and should be met and taken to our overnight hotel.
