When we
were planning our trip to Botswana and Zambia two years ago we thought it would
most probably be our one and only safari and we wanted to make sure it was the
right experience. Having heard horror stories of truck upon truck lined
up in front of some poor animal we were adamant that was not something we
wanted to be involved in. OK so man will always disturb animals to some
extent, but if you choose carefully this disturbance can be kept to a
minimum. Luckily we found Michele of Safari Consultants and she put
together the most amazing trip and we had a wonderful time (and hopefully were
barely even noticed by said animals).
There
is a saying that if you leave Africa with even just one grain of its sand
between your toes then someday you will return.
Well
never mind the sand, we knew before we even left Zambia that we would return to
Africa and so, having sold several organs and limbs, we are returning for what
we are sure will be another fabulous visit.
And this time it’s to Kenya which is about 4.5 times the size of the England but as you can see from the map below we are concentrating on the relatively small, game rich, south westish area.
After
a (hopefully) night's rest in Nairobi we fly first to Amboseli for 2
nights, then on to Lewa (via Nairobi) 4 nights, then another flight direct to
Masai Mara where we spend 4 nights each at two different camps.
Internet
access will be at best intermittent and therefore I'm not inviting anyone to
follow my sporadic posts but, if you decide to, welcome and thank you.
