Bags packed and ready to go, a couple more pictures on the walk up to breakfast. The first tent was ours.
Saying farewell at breakfast to Jessica and co, we mentioned the Secretary Bird joke and when she described what she’d seen, it turns out they were Grey Crowned Cranes, of which we’d seen loads. Shall I tell Junior or not?
We said our goodbyes to Graeme and Candy (overnight she’d messaged Liz and Garth who remember us as fondly as we do them) and set off at 7:30 with Junior for the journey back to the airport. Michele had only given us two nights here as she thought that was plenty of time because “there wasn’t much to see/do” but we both feel we could easily have stayed another couple of days, but she knows her stuff so we must be moving on to better things.
As always Junior was very relaxed and let us stop as many times as we wanted.
Dik-dik (the smallest antelope but seemingly with the largest eyes!)
We were nearly at the airport when he screeched to a halt and there on the road in front of us was a pair of Secretary Birds.
Junior was delighted – his bonus was secured!
As we arrived at the airstrip our little plane was landing and we were soon loaded and on our way back to Nairobi.
