Lewa - Day 3 AM

Being on the go constantly is beginning to take its toll on us, but particularly Ian.  Mornings start at 05:30 and its pretty full on til bedtime about 22:00.  So today we've decided we do a short drive early morning, come back for breakfast and then do an afternoon drive about 4:30.

We went firstly to a lovely little valley, with a stream running through and palm trees which we hadn't seen in this area before.  It would make a lovely place for a picnic.

Rock Hyrax

This lone Rhino had some rather nasty open wounds on each side and seemed very wary of us.

We spent ages looking at this bird trying to identify if and eventually brilliant Joseph worked it out - an Eastern Pale Chanting Goshawk.

I love the arch of this Giraffe's neck, reminds me of a seahorse.

A lovely family of Silver Backed Jackal.

My favourite hillock with Mount Kenya in the distance.

Vicious spikes on a young Acacia tree - how vicious those spines are

And the blossom is beautiful.

A nice, short, gentle morning, rounded off with Joseph updating Ian on what birds we saw!
